About The Artwork
For me, Byzantine Hagiography is painting and theology combined. It is an artistic expression and an expectation of salvation at the same time. It's a transcendence, a way of portraying the transcendent feature. It removes the worldly light, space and time. It does not hesitate to break free from the naturalistic perception of secular art. It removes perspective and declares the secret depth. It transforms matter into spirit. For these reasons I decided to get involved with the style of Byzantine Hagiography, painting either sacred icons or modern works, imbued, however, with tradition, and references to the Byzantine Christian Art. This work of art is a hymn to Spring and the woman who gives birth to life. Combining different materials and styles is my passion! You can place it on a piece of furniture or on your wall. I hope you have the spring alive in you!

Hello. I'm Despo. I was born and I live in Greece, in the plain of Vergina, in the Ancient Aigai, the home of Alexander the Great. I create artifacts of art with the earthly colors of the Macedonian land. With the same marbles, the same clay and the same stones on which Alexander the Great walked beside his teacher, Aristotle. Art is one of the paths my soul follows to express and calm down itself. I started my artistic career as a hagiographer, but then I became involved in painting, angiography and pottery, wood carving. I create artifacts of art from wood, metal, wool, clay. The combination of all these materials is my great passion and my desire at the same time.
