About The Artwork

2022, "Stellar Birth" - marble sculpture This original solid marble sculpture on beautiful basalt stand is one of the latest artworks by the Bulgarian contemporary sculptor Ognyan Chitakov, deeply inspired by postmodernism, abstract expressionism and science. It has authentic natural charm, mixed with the unique artistic signature and skills. The artist's concept is to visualize the complexity and the beauty of the outer space with the help of an elaborate hand carved maze of details, curves, channels and organic forms. Our Sun is 5 billion years old, and so we have no “file footage” of how it was born. But stars elsewhere in the galaxy reveal the birthing process. Hubble’s keen vision allowed astronomers to peer deep into gigantic, turbulent clouds of gas and dust where tens of thousands of stars are bursting to life. The Hubble images reveal a bizarre landscape sculpted by radiation from young, exceptionally bright stars. The observations reveal that star birth is a violent process of intense radiation and shock fronts. The intense, ultraviolet radiation clears out cavities in stellar nurseries and erodes material from giant gas pillars that are incubators for fledgling stars. This exquisite art object brings its beautiful creator's attention to details, precision and quality. It is an unique marble masterpiece and inspirational home decor. "The stone material is alive and has a soul. I never ignore it and its gravity as well. I try to give each artwork the feeling of lightness." ... by the artist VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR5pm7Np0QE

Ognyan Chitakov is a contemporary professional Bulgarian fine art sculpture artist. He has master degree of education at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia. He lives and works in the beautiful Bulgarian town of Asenovgrad, where his home and studio are based. Sculpture is his main way of thinking, his way of communication, his way of living and his complex look at life. Sculpture gives him the freedom to create and makes his ideas visible. He loves sculpture because it gathers all in him - form, space, function, architecture, design, engineering, technology and above all Art – both fine and sculptural. Among all materials used to shape sculptures his passion lies in stone. Stone is ancient and sacred, and it is already part of his nature. Ognyan Chitakov is nationally famous now for his extra large figurative solid stone sculptures, abstract statues and geometric monuments, which can be seen in many galleries, banks and public places all over the country. Most of his artworks are already part of private collections in Western Europe, Middle East and the U.S.A. "The stone material is alive and has a soul. I never ignore it and its gravity as well. I try to give each artwork the feeling of lightness." Ognyan Chitakov
