About The Artwork

This work is one of Veronica Pollini's Circular Mosaics. This one, in particular, is inspired by "Swan Lake" ballet. 160 handmade white ceramic tesserae, together with stones, marble and glass bring this spectacular artwork to life, giving movement to the five circles. It's not a sculpture, it's not just a painting. It's mosaic, baby. Maybe the most material kind of art made extremely light thanks to the use of the powerful symbol of the circle, which has got thousands of meanings. When art meets symbols and design... a Circular Mosaic is born.

Veronica Pollini got a degree in Marketing and Communication at IULM Uiversity of Milan (Italy) with a thesis about the organization of cultural events. In 2010 she attended a mosaic course at S.I.S.A.M. (International School of Mosaic Art and Frescoes) in Ravenna, Italy. Then she started createing mosaics, even on furnishings, preferring direct technique on final support. Her research went in the direction of investigating the sybolic potencial of the circle - shape, experimenting at the same time unusual combinations of different materials (glass, marble, venetian smalti, stones etc.).
