This latest piece is the result of many years working on the theme of the jug. ( A short hard word for a form that has endless possibilities both functionally and decoratively.) I consider that the function of this piece is to be decorative. It has the presence required to command the space that is dedicated to it. It is however glazed inside and could be used for instance for wine! Coil built form using stoneware clay. The form is painted with a grey slip and over that using a sponge black slip After bisque firing the form is glazed with a transparent glaze and fired to 1200c.

I am now making both decorative and functional ceramics. My preferred method of making my ceramics is by coiling. This gives me the control I need to achieve the results I am aiming for. I also use the potter’s wheel to make parts of a form which can then be modelled and assembled
