Faced with the problematic nature of intellectually tackling complexity, Henry Day's practice is driven by what we cannot comprehend. Attempting to encapsulate what our minds fail to encapsulate the work then becomes more than itself - a paradoxical microcosm of philosophical loose ends. Inspired by the incongruousness shared between the square and the circle, this sculpture is an investigation into the subsequent perception of symmetry. Where one is infinite and the other is linear, the sculpture lies somewhere in between. Note to buyer: This piece consists of mirrors so consideration for surrounding space is necessary. The back of the piece consists of the grey backs of the mirrors with polished aluminium angle connecting the edges. The glass ball is a loose component to be placed in the open cube once in situ. Faced with the problematic nature of intellectually tackling complexity, Henry's practice is driven by what we cannot comprehend. With an interest in mathematics, geometry and natural philosophy, he is inspired by subjects that leave him perplexed. He has no intention of gaining a logical understanding, but feels that his work is successful when it encapsulates what our minds fail to encapsulate. The work then becomes more than itself - a paradoxical microcosm of philosophical loose ends.
