The Dryad Watches Sculpture

Lying on the ground, at the base of a centenarian fallen chestnut tree, broken off, the wood seemed still alive. Found on the high plateau of the Lambert, a few meters from an upright menhir, hidden figures and gnarled shapes seem to speak of generations of secrets. Months later, I could not forget it and went back to bring it home. It started months of work, first, to stop its degradation whilst keeping its integrity, then, to find out how to present it, highlight its features, and convey its meaning. It was quite a task to restore this enormous piece of wood, treat it, set it on a base and develop a patina which enhanced it. This traveler seems to be on a journey, guided by the spirit of the tree, by its ancient-ness. Or is it a Dryad herself protected, who makes the tree comes to life once again.
