About The Artwork
The Song of I was created from ancient specimen of red travertine. Time has taken its toll on the stone but still its raw beauty shines through with bits of crystal, a hint of copper veining and the gloriously unpredictable voids travertine is known for. I lived with this raw block of travertine for three and a half years before it spoke to me and was ready to be carved. It took me another 9 months to find the proper time and energy for its creation. For both of us, it was worth the wait. I honored the stone by listening, carving with a gentle hand and preserving its natural beauty. The stone honored me by speaking to me and allowing me to shape it without breaking. Ancient Song meets modern artist…

It took 50 years for me to be in a place secure enough to create art. After a small bout of homelessness in my 20's, I focused on an income in the corporate world. Then the corporate world, unceremoniously, spit me out in 2008. I turned my love of dance into my next career. So much joy came from this, I then turned my attention to art. I have been creating and showing sculpture ever since. Each day I dance and create art is filled with joy! Each day I share what I know with others about dance and art is filled with even more joy.
