Due to the reflective iridescent black opaque glass "Whatever's In Front" is part of this artwork and part of the "performance". The jumble of hearts cut into a single sheet of glass that looks like sticky oil, a steel frame, plus the reflection of whatever's in front, will mean different things to different people. A heart is a very familiar shape, but a jumble of hearts on oil! Anything could happen! This is leaded stained glass made exactly as church windows are, but it is a 2D sculpture not a window. It is designed to hang on a wall and be looked at, not through. It reflects light rather than letting it through. It changes appearance dramatically with slight changes in light conditions and the angle of viewing and demands to be looked at every time you are near it. I refer to it as performing art because that is what it does and will do for centuries. It has marine grade stainless steel rods inserted into the outside leads and a stainless steel rod soldered on the back to give it more strength and to hang it from. It is 16.6inches (42.3cm) tall and 10.6inches (27cm) wide.

My name is Peter Wiltshire. I live in Norfolk, England. Born in 1958, I've been making stained glass since 2001 and have been making items to sell since May 2014. I design and make experimental stained glass to hang inside and outside and to plant in gardens. Exploiting the beauty of glass and the weather proofing attributes of lead to display it. I am fascinated with how sculptures, wall art and hanging ornaments made with glass change appearance constantly with the light conditions and angle of viewing. My Garden Art is designed to withstand the non-sterile gallery that a garden is. My Wall Art is designed to be looked at rather than through.
