wasted on desire Sculpture

This piece, similar to my Dentist piece, both was somewhat influenced by artists adorning sculptures with clothes. For this reason I looked for something else that people adorn themselves with. I looked to myself and saw tattoos and jewelry. These things we put on ourselves to make ourselves feel beautiful or empowered. But soon one is never enough and we want more and more, and now. At the push of a button. This artwork was made using a mold of my own body cast using expanding foam and sitting on a plaster button with a lead weight inside. This gives the artwork the ability to stand upright despite leading backwards, Again like the Dentist artwork, this gives the impression that it shouldn't be free standing. The expanding foam creates textures out of the back of the mold creating texture to evoke thoughts of deterioration and melting away. Jewelry was embedded into the sculpture and tattoo transfers laid over the top. The artwork was spray coated giving a plastic synthetic aesthetic. Finished with a satin lacquer to protect from damage and UV.
