In the words of the great physicist Richard Feynman, "I am an explorer." In the BBC production, "The Pleasure of Finding Things Out" Professor Feynman explains what electromagnetic waves would look like if we could see them. He describes waves bumping into each other, interfering with one another, moving through space and through us at the speed of light and being present everywhere at the same time. I like to think of my Nikon D800 as a wave collector, a SIM card as a palate of captured light, and my images as paintings that represent the choices that I've made at moments in space and time. As as science educator and college professor I make it a point to teach my students the relationship that exists between science and art. Hopefully, they will fear science less if they can begin to see its beauty.
