About The Artwork

This is a unique piece of work made after spending time at Trinity Buoy Wharf in London's Docklands creating works for Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust. The piece shows a temporary sculptural intervention I made on the site using paper that I had reclaimed from their recycling facilities. The paper features the notes and words to well known sea shanties such as "What Shall We Do With A Drunken Sailor" and "Blow The Man Down" from which the piece takes it's name. The imagery of ships in the piece comes from the coat of arms that was given to Trinity Buoy Wharf by Queen Elizabeth 1st. The piece itself is an archival quality digital print of my original work (which now forms just one part of a much larger installation found in the Electricians Shop at Trinity Buoy Wharf) to which I have added further hand cut layers of to make the surface of the work a relief sculpture. I like the contrast of the stark urban architecture that forms the background of the piece with the intricate paper cut that reveals some of the history of the place in the words, music and forms of ships and the sea. This is a very unusual piece incorporating much of the history of London's Docklands. Presented in a simple black box frame.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My work is inspired by the environment I am commissioned or choose to work from. Much of my work is made from paper I have collected from the area I am working in, and so traces of the people and everyday goings on of the pace may be revealed through this. I also use photography as a further development in my practice and take photographs of my delicate paper structures back out on the streets that inspired them.
