MARQUETRY DIPTIH - ENIGMA DJOKOVIĆ 2 Novak Djokovic vs Rafael Nadal - Australian Open 2012 Final I believe that there is hardly a person in this country, and many in all the meridians of the world, who somewhere deep inside, looking at the endless series of tennis matches, has not wondered, what kind of "Enigma Đoković" is this, what a miraculous combination makes this young man the greatest athlete of all time in our country and the greatest tennis player in the world. Through the profession I am engaged in, in the world of old and artistic craft, intarsia craft, under the auspices of unusual circumstances, I often asked myself that. Hence, all this, made in a specific way by the wondrous beauty of wood, is an attempt of my own artistic-craftsmanship response to that incredible enigma. Because, almost out of breath watching that epic, titanic and almost gladiatorial final of the Australian open 2012 and after almost six hours of superhuman efforts, watching moments of eruptive emotion of victory and power,at that very moment, in who knows what layer of thought, I knew that the motif I had started working on a little earlier, the motif of the power of the tiger emerging from the water, was a strange expression of the same, the same power of nature, the same power of the life force, the same triumph of life. And I knew that I had to and wanted to do that diptych, two completely different motifs of the same one - as a debt to the reign of Novak Đoković, something truly bright and positive in the crazy and turbulent times of which we are contemporaries. With marquetry technique like prehistory's craft decorative older occupie since 1978. like primary school pupil, like secondary school pupil "Karlovac's school in Sremski Karlovci and like student of philosophy on Belgrade's university.He collaborated and he collaborates with restauratiors of antique's and masters of furniture in Belgrade. Dusan Rakic is the founder and owner of the craft studio Marquetry Design. ------------------------------------------------------------- Marquetry Design is an artistic craft workshop that cherishes and practices traditional craft skills of marquetry. Our intention is to refine and promote the aesthetics of modern living through the production of furniture and interior marquetry technique. The primary goal of my practicing marquetry technique is an attempt to promote and affirm the almost forgotten beauty of this artistic craft. To that extent I have, as part of my own self-improvement, focused on marquetry and interpretations of works by old masters’ paintings and drawings, starting from the fact that drawing foundation overall fine and applied arts.
