About The Artwork
I was inspired by a print of a Kim Jackson collage of Alfred Hitchcock hanging on the wall of a friend's cigar lounge and a love of cigars. Having sourced cigar labels I found many of them to have colours that resembled the palette of renaissance paintings. I sketched out a version of Mona Lisa on board and began to piece together the collage from the cigar bands of many brands. This type of art is like creating a jigsaw puzzle from scratch where you have to make the jigsaw pieces from available materials, which is dependent on the cigars that people like to smoke in my local cigar shop.
