About The Artwork
This acrylic mixed media/collage -on- canvas painting was inspired by a recent trip to Japan and other visits to different Far Eastern countries.. I was so impressed by the beauty of Japanese, Vietnamese, and Thai culture that I was moved to combine many elements together into this highly texturized, impressionistic collage. I included found objects, bubble wrap, printed materials, wood cut prints, Japanese washi paper, fabric and many more things to help move a viewer's eye around the painting. Hopefully when seeing this piece, an observer will feel the intrigue and mystery I tried to convey.

Myra Evans is a visual artist living and working in Toronto, Canada and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. After retiring from a long, rewarding career as a high school teacher and administrator, Myra discovered the joys of painting, especially using water media. After 15 years of creating impressionistic water colour portraits, she is now experimenting with acrylics, pastels ,hand made paper, collage/texturizing techniques, inks and watercolours. Exploring abstraction using figurative images with alternative mediums has been an on-going adventure. Her time and energy has been focused on developing as a painter.
