About The Artwork

Part of the series "Road America blueprint drawings", the work adopts shapes and textures from the paddock area of the Road America racing event as elements of composition. It is made of traces, documentation samples created with the method of frottage, a way of capturing an element's shape or texture on paper. The drawing is created on site in an improvisational manner, using wax crayon on fine Japanese Hanshi paper. "22/07/2014. Road America blueprint drawing II" includes traces collected from the side of a truck parked at the paddock area, a wooden ramp and a no-slip ramp liner. "Blueprint drawings" is ongoing work, part of the project "Metamorphosis/USA". The project is unfolding in real time during a three month journey across the United States, July-October 2014. More information on the project can be found at Note: The 11x14 inches print format reproduces the work in its original dimensions. In all three formats available, the white border is slightly larger than the default 3 inch border provided by Saatchi, in order for the work to maintain its original proportions, and in the case of the 11x14 print, its exact size (9.5x13 in).
