A quick portrait of an unknown possible ancestor of mine. Made after a photograph I inherited from my grandmother. The depicted person might be a relative, but can no longer be traced down. Through making these portraits I try to get a connection to these people that will otherwise get lost. This work is made on a paper usually used as a cheap wrapping paper. This material is not made to be drawn on. It has its flaws and there are creases in the work and even a little hole, where the material chose to resolve when it was painted on. This lies in the nature of the material and is an important part of the work. For those portraits I chose materials that make it hard for me to work on as to reflect the impossibility to really get through to the model when they are long gone and not to grasp any longer.

Germany
I am a self-taught painter. Born 1986 in Solingen, Germany. Recently my main focus lays on how the image of people in portraiture is changing through time and how that reflects on the depicted persons.
