What Inspired the work [The Story]: Born out of the idea of a self-awareness algorithm is the depiction of the heart and brain of the worlds first Artificial General Intelligence. While contemplating over the creation of AGI during my university studies, we always focused on various topics and AGI was one of them. I've spent days and nights up trying to figure out how this can be made possible and then suddenly one night I had my eureka moment, it all made sense to me. AGI can only be born out of a process by studying humanities very own beginning stages. We learn and we adapt, like a child learning to grasp things. Self-Awareness is the main ingredient but getting there follows a process of baby steps. The Art piece is a representation of the futuristic hardware that is the driving force behind AI becoming AGI. I still have my notes on this topic but they are kept away safely and remain well guarded. Perhaps one day I'll have it coded following that step by step process I've penned down. What do I hope viewers will feel: I hope viewers will feel hopeful and inspired by a belief that one day soon, man will live in a world side by side with machines working with us to explore and develop our understanding of everything around us. Far from the horror depictions in SciFi movies, I envision a beautiful world where science and faith comes together. We may look at mankind's grand history during the Islamic Golden Age where science exploded and brought us the modern world we live in today. Without the works of scientists such as Ibn Sina (Avicinna), Ibn Rushd (Averroes) we might not have had computers today let alone cell phones, we'd probably still be in the dark ages. Why did I choose this medium and style? The Answer is simple, most of out ideas are penned down and a nice piece of paper. It's the place where great things are born.

Here's a 2021 Artist Interview Farook had at the Athenaeum which aired on DSTV Channel 260: https://youtu.be/o5B_-HaJhNE From the Artist: "I come from a very diverse family background and have family in nearly every part of the world. I was born and raised in the beautiful Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, Eastern Cape, South Africa. I’ve traveled around the country and made home of our other noted and beautifully vibrant cities such as Johannesburg and Durban but I’m now back in my hometown. I’m also a collector of rarities and other valuables, an artist by nature and my work is influenced by world history, my own diverse family background which I can trace “spanning continents”, I’m also influenced by my physical surroundings and global events affecting us all (some of my works are a bit controversial and it adds some fun and spice for collectors who buy my works with the aim of making a buck or two or simply because they love and appreciate my creative expression), it’s all very unique, always tells a story and looks like the kind of artwork you’d usually find in an old money home. I’ve taken part in National and International Art competitions such as the Mzansi Art Gallery Competition & Exhibition 2021, The 2021 New Now Emerging Artist Competition hosted by Galerie NOKO, sponsored by VANSA [Visual Artist Network of South Africa], L’atelier [Continental, Sponsored by ABSA Bank] and Climanosco (Switzerland) for Art And Science on the topic of Global Warming and Rising Water Levels & State of The Art Gallery Competition on the same theme of Global Warming. I have a lot more to say and add but will be updating my journey along the way.
