He started painting during his early teenage years, during which time he developed a passion for color. He displayed his work in Cuba in several exhibitions and finally in 2000 he immigrated to the US. Only very few young artists have dared to take on the challenge of combining several styles (some obvious and others not ) with its refined concept of Cubism, using the exquisite combination of colors and graphic elements. Fernando found the limits of color on a canvas and realized that texture was vital to give his work the depth he had been searching for. Consequently dedicated many years to perfecting the craft of texture. Now technique came into play wherever color was reaching its limitations and the final work spoke for itself. The imperative and remarkable influence of Pablo Picasso, Amelia Pelaez, Cundo Bermudez, Wilfredo Lam and many others, were and continue to be his inspiration to create a kaleidoscope of paintings of amazing and venerable emotions. Fernando continues to paint rigorously, pushing the boundaries of shapes and forms in a way that comes very naturally for him. "The essence of my work is found at the bottom of my humble studies of the masters and my own life as an artist, which are intertwined to appear as mere reflections of the their brush strokes”
