It is known that humans began using hemp or cannabis around 10,000 B.C. Hemp is a plant belonging to the same plant species as marijuana: Cannabis Sativa L. Externally, the hemp plant is taller, with a thicker stem and less dense foliage than marijuana. However, despite this similar appearance, the main difference between them lies in their chemical composition: the level of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in hemp must be kept below 0.2% to be considered legal. Industrial hemp has become a sought-after raw material by the international community due to its lucrative potential in the business sector, thanks to the multiple uses that can be given to the plant. One of its most important virtues, in my opinion, is that it reduces the Carbon Footprint as it can absorb up to 22 tons of atmospheric carbon per hectare, making it a powerful phytoregenerator and allowing control of soil erosion, elimination of toxins such as heavy metals from the earth, regeneration of unproductive lands, and prevention of the appearance of unwanted plants.

I am a Colombian artist with over 20 years of experience. Throughout my artistic practice, experimentation has been the cornerstone of many of my projects. I typically develop series where my main interest is to work on concepts such as time, the ephemeral, the eternal, ecological themes, social-environmental awareness, and personal topics. Through observing my reality, I delve into the responsibility of our actions, concluding that as human beings, we must embrace nature since we are part of it. Understanding the importance of my inner world, as well as that of all individuals, has always been linked to my work, while not neglecting to critique society which, in my view, prioritizes material interests over harmony and balance with the environment. However, I also reflect on my own life; I am very self-critical, analyzing my own processes of physical and mental transformation, accepting and recognizing myself, which is reflected in much of my work. All of this has led me to think about human survival, particularly my own, my son's, and my family's. In this way, I contemplate how to solve and generate changes from individuality and social consciousness through my language, art.
