Halong Bay # 13 : The Better Half - Phong Trinh Print

This sculptured island is called " The Female" or the hen. It is one of two standing together in isolation. The local look at them as a couple. Drawing them separately, I can see them better. First, I saw a huge dessert in a dessert glass dripping ice cream or something yummy! then I saw a toad ( or iguana) on the top, fish heads. In smaller forms, I saw puppies, faces .. In the misty background was a shape of a huge old seal! The foot fossil was made vivid like that of crystal glass. Corrosion happens. The sheer weight of the limestone block and the effect of climate change. This fragile and attractive sculpture might lost forever. Because of this uncertainty, realism applied in this drawing of the bay might serve as part of a record. Enjoy!
