His Mountain Print

This drawing is part of a limited edition series on vintage file folders. When an Albuquerque Librarian retired they would no longer be using her image archive from the 50's and 60's, and they thought of me because of my collage work. But I was more interested in the folders themselves, each one labeled with subjects like Korean War, Depression Era. I tore the folders in half then drew on them at my figure drawing groups ( I go to 2-3 weekly). Then I take them home, paint over and collage over parts I don't like. Then I go back to drawing and redraw. Then back home add more paint or writing until I come up with something I like. I do not have a preconceived plan; I allow the work to arrive. I continue to layer until it is complete. I have about 40 folders in this series.
