About The Artwork
"Louise" is a detailed pencil drawing by Derra St. Denis, influenced by Michael Angelo & Picasso. It is as realistic as it is abstract. History: Louise was Derra's roommate when they attended York University, and this drawing was done to commemorate the "Year of the Handicapped", as was her roommate, born with spinal bifida. Louise posed for this drawing, it took Derra approximately 6-7 hours to complete,and was displayed at the Gallery at York in 1982. Here is a beautiful print of the original, mesmerizing one to stare at its detail from any angle, and can be displayed also, landscape style. Note from Artist: Louise is one of my more serious/intense pieces of art, and of my favorites. Others in my portfolio reflect my comedic and youthful outlook on life. Fine artists are capable of many styles, and should never be categorized 100%, to me.

Acting in several productions, looking contemporary, or costumed & wigged to accommodate the period, Derra's body of work is diverse ranging from principal actor in film to national spokesperson on TV. She also, sings and plays piano. Her first composition, she wrote a jingle for FOX NHL Hockey called "Sinbad the Sailor Man" which aired on one of their commercials, and she was the teacher in the spot. This work enabled her to join SAG (Screen Actors Guild), TMA (Toronto Musicians Association, in association with the AFM - American Federation of Musicians), and SOCAN (Foundation representing Canadian music creators and publishers). Derra is also, a fine artist. Derra St. Denis has been drawing and creating art since early childhood. Inspired by Renoir, Picasso, Raphael, Monet, the Group of Seven, Andy Warhol to name a few, her impressionistic art and photography has a vibrant impact.
