About The Artwork

My mother taught me to play my first piano boogie-woogie at age 12, Glenn Miller’s In The Mood. I was hooked on the 12-bar progression native to blues and country classics. Since my first experiences with music I’ve become aware that, what I thought was new music through the years, came to us mostly by way of blues and country music pioneers. This illustration celebrates country music legend Merle Haggard.
