About The Artwork
This artwork is inspired by the beauty of northern lights. I’ve used canson paper and soft pastels as they are extremely easy to apply lots of colour quite quickly to the paper and they appear more vibrant and intense. The northern lights, or the aurora borealis, are beautiful dancing waves of light that have captivated people for millennia. But for all its beauty, this spectacular light show is a rather violent event. An aurora, also commonly known as the polar lights, is a natural light display in Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions. The artwork is glass framed and mounted. I’ve used fixative spray to protect the artwork.

My name is Saman Khan. I'm a Pakistani artist. I started my journey as a self-taught artist, during covid as I wanted to do something productive. Creating art took my mind off from all the tensions as i found peace in it. I was inspired by mom because she's an amazing graphic designer and she encouraged me towards this field. My favourite medium to work with are acrylic paints because they are easy to use and don't take more time to dry but I love experimenting with other mediums aswell. Making artworks have given me an experience that as long as you have faith in yourself that you can make a blank sheet of paper into something beautiful or interesting then the medium doesn't matter.
