I have been experimenting with black and white portraits over the past fourteen years. Fascination with faces, expressions, body and gesture has been a lifelong experience for me. In my work I capture expressions, feelings, moods and mental states.
In the past I have never used images or photos of faces, most of my portraits are developed through improvisation. My work is inspired by strong female characters, who are original and have a powerful presence. My large drawings, which I have named the Wirehead’s, have evolved from a long history of sketching. 
I call it structured improvisation; a combination of uncontrolled and controlled chaos with some identifiable characteristics. They represent the energy of thinking and the subconscious mind in movement and in the moment.
