RHINOCEROS Soft pastel, paper. One of a kind artwork Size: 48.3 W x 61.4 (unframed) The rhinoceros is one of the largest animals on earth. It is the second-largest herbivore, second only to the elephant. When you look at this majestic animal, you immediately notice the large horn, which is just above the nose. The horn of a rhinoceros is very durable, but it does not consist of bone, but of keratin (a substance found in human nails and hair) and the outer layer of hair. The rhinoceros' skin can be up to 8 cm thick. This explains why they are called thick-skinned. Rhinos can get sunburned. To avoid this, the animals wallow in the mud. It becomes clear why they like mud so much. I decided to paint a beautiful white rhinoceros. This picture was exhibited at the online exhibition of the Russian Pastel Drawing Society and received a special mention from the jury. The painting is filled with subtle and understated colors. Perfectly matched colors and paper. Silvery, bluish hues, light strokes, so skillfully displaying the folds and texture of the skin. The animal seems to penetrate us, to materialize out of thin air. The muzzle and horn are slightly more contrasting. Light touches to the body create volume and fill the picture with air. The composition of the picture is very interesting. This picture can be a great decoration for a stylish interior. This drawing took part in the online exhibition "Wildlife" National Pastel Society of Russia in the summer of 2020. The drawing is titled and signed on the back. It will be shipped to you unframed and unmatted. Supplied in a reinforced strong envelope safe and sound. Pastel paintings are best decorated under glass and matte boards to protect them. Video of this drawing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci3rk4c1sHw

"Every time I touch the texture paper with my fingertips and start drawing I feel like an enchantress who can turn an empty sheet of paper into a picture" says Tatsiana Ilyina. Over the years, the artist has tried many themes and techniques in her art. But now she is in love with soft pastels. She often adds watercolor to them, which in combination is a unique and very rare technique. Tatiana's paintings are full of life and joy. Often the subjects of the paintings are flowers, animals, nature. They madly inspire her to create new and even more exciting subjects. Tatiana is also a member of the National Pastel Society of Russia and a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, and she has also included in the unified register of professional artists. This is an official art society recognized worldwide. She has participated in many exhibitions, and her paintings have been purchased not only online but also offline. Many of her works have been included in print catalogs.
