About The Artwork

This work is the third in a series of works executed with 3 stretched canvases using trompe l'oeil effects, playing with the illusions of two- and three-dimensionality. A reversed canvas creates a recessed "room" with a partial curtain hanging on a wooden rod. One small canvas forms the raised background for sheep-like wooden clouds. A painted basket hangs from threads. Though it looks 3-dimensional, the background canvas is flat. The only three-dimensional object on that canvas is the book spine sitting on a red box. Unlike the first two works in the series, the sculptured person is gone, leaving only a flat sketch in an inverted stretched canvas. Without seeing the actual work, it is difficult to differentiate between "real" and painted surfaces. These three-dimensional pictures were my response to the challenge of making a work of art that could not be exactly copied. Another challenge that I took up in these works was to make similar works of art whose structural balance depended on juxtaposition of many colored spaces. In other words, I wanted to take an abstract approach to realistic subjects.

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Art is a passion, which I steadfastly develop in my own way, getting inspiration from fragments of poetry, photographs or stories, rather than from drawings or paintings of other artists. Dr. Dalia Hakker-Orion, curator of my solo exhibition in Tel Aviv wrote: “She doesn’t paint according to instructions or styles, but evolves at her own pace, creating original paintings manifesting passages connecting different realities.” My story stretches from my childhood home in Southern California to the Sea of Galilee in Israel. My dual citizenship has strongly influenced my perspectives. From multiple traditions, art emerges as the visual expression of movement and multi-layered ideas. I am currently working with encaustic paint that I make in my studio. My work incorporates a variety of materials: oil, acrylic, pastel, pencil sketches, and found objects.
