"The transfiguration" or "the journey of the soul to the afterlife" and "the triumph of the soul over the physical realm" ~the eternal nature of love. Death is a door nothing less, and nothing more. They simply saw it as "the transition" from the corporeal to the spiritual -from the temporary to the external. I often think that it is much more appropriate to celebrate when someone dies, after all (assuming they have led a good life), it means that that person has entered into paradise, forever! If that isn't worth throwing a party for -I really don't know what is? Of course, when someone dies, we mourn "losing" them from our lives, and naturally, we miss them, but this is our sorrow -not theirs.
