About The Artwork

The cycle of rise and fall is repeated in the history of civilizations, where remarkable transformation and growth occurs in civilization with an emphasis on innovation, development, and economic, political, and cultural prosperity. Over time, civilization begins to deteriorate and decline as a result of several factors, such as wars, conflicts, and economic, environmental, and social changes. This usually happens when civilization becomes exhausted and unable to effectively face new challenges and changes, leading to the deterioration of the economy and the deterioration of the political, social and cultural system. These factors can gradually increase until civilization reaches a point from which there is no return and turns into the collapse of civilization. But the fall can also be the beginning of a new cycle of development and transformation, in which the emerging civilization can benefit from and avoid the mistakes made by the previous civilization and build a new, stable and advanced system. Hence, the cycle of ups and downs is repeated again in human history.

My name is Abderrahim BENJABBAR, I was born in Safi and grew up in Essaouira. I have loved art and drawing since my childhood, and since I was born I found myself sitting next to my father, who was a fan of drawing, because most His subjects are candid scenes of boats accompanied by birds at sunset on the sea. For these reasons, I found myself an artist since childhood. The second important factor that developed my relationship with drawing is that I grew up in the city of Essaouira, and Essaouira, as you know, is considered the cradle of plastic art in our country in the first place. My small environment was my family and my large environment was at the city level, so these factors were an effective motivation for me to be an artist without hesitation. As for my first appearance in plastic art, my first real appearance was at the hands of the late famous plastic artist Hussein Al-Meloudi because he noticed my talent and innate desire to be a visual artist, encouraged me, directed me in the right direction, and taught me what the meaning of plastic art is. He pushed me, for the first time in my artistic life, to participate with him in a group exhibition of plastic arts On the occasion of the music festival held in Essaouira 1981/1982. After these two steps, I entered the study phase. I studied art and obtained my certificate as a fine arts teacher. During my artistic career, I participated in many group or individual art exhibitions, and contributed to the creation and production of 3D artworks ready for display. My artistic works are measured first by the quality of the work after diligence and long, in-depth thinking, and not by numbers, because the topic must be chosen and it is a question related to the faculty of revelation, and after that comes the time to enlighten the idea and embody it in an artistic painting that combines the appropriate color to highlight the topic that must be expressed. I studied visual arts and know what most of them are Art schools, and my only concern was trying to break with the phenomenon of imitation to finally reach my own style. Due to the improvement of my health condition after a long struggle with illness that lasted nearly twenty years, I resumed painting recently in 2021 by creating my first work after this period, which I called “the giant corona.” Currently, I have developed my artistic style to be compatible with modern technology.
