About The Artwork

This work was inspired after a short visit to Talca, a smaller city an hour away from Santiago de Chile. I was invited by my ex-girlfriend (Ofelia) to spend some days in his ex-husband house (who was not at home) with her current boyfriend (Victor) and another friend (Ariel) who had also been lover to Ofelia! One of the days we decided to make the typical "asado" (or barbecue). And thats when the image of Victor that had recently nailed the dead animal to a strap stroke me....The polarity between life and death, the "aparent" dominance of one species over the other and the sun bathing the scene with the hills leading to the Andes as backdrop... This scene gave birth to a prior painting also from 2016, "116-Victor", which depicted him with the dead animal, and later an echo of that painting would give birth to "149-Carne" focusing exclusively in the beauty of flesh and bones...

I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Started my journey in art attending to painting classes since I was 9 and never stopped from then. Although the path has been rocky many times, making art for me is a lighthouse that shines a light over my life and helps me try to understand where I am and where I am going. And if by chance I get to discover any answer or clue by doing my practice, not only it helps myself but it may also those who get in touch with my work and can resonate with its message. Messages that are not premeditated. Just felt in my heart and humbly transmitted. No mental concepts to call for assisted reflections. I think of my work as an opportunity to delve into a groove that transcends my existence. To navigate through it and be at the disposal of the unexpected, of the unknown, of everything that was, is and will be. A furrow of exploration of what surrounds me, of the visible and the invisible. The process, the experience and the uncertainty above the mental concept, above reaching a certain destination. And in the transit of experience, the findings. Findings that many times even transcend my ability to understand. Registered in each brushstroke, in each gesture, in each choice.
