The London Regent's Canal starts at Little Venice and ends in Docklands. A quiet and atmospheric waterway often hidden by the surrounding buildings. One sunny afternoon in winter, I was walking along, enjoying the reflections of the buildings, the trees and the movement of the waters. The sun light entering through the buildings and reaching the waters, evoking memories from childhood and inner peace. The painting is on a panel prepared with the traditional method described by Cennini and used in Tuscany in the late 14th-15th century. I prepared the paint grinding the pigments and mixing the power with the binding medium (oils)- like the old master used to do a long, long time ago. It is a long process but I enjoy building the layers, generating light and shade and working from dark to light. I hope the viewer would be reminded of enjoyable and peaceful walks by the river.
