About The Artwork

A Winter Love We were like, the raging sea, a winter love, that could not be. Our voices were the ocean’s roar, we cried until we could not cry no more. We mocked the storms and they fell the trees our broken limbs, among scattered leaves. The tides had shown, What we did not heed, the water holds- and then recedes. - Lang Leav - This Winter girl from my collection 'A change of Seasons' is painted in oils mixed with Cold Wax Medium which creates beautiful layers and gives this painting its ethereal look. My inspiration to paint these Winter Girls came from the beautiful poem 'A Winter Love' by Lang Leav. The painting is 60 x 80 cm (23.6"x31.5") and painted on a cradled panel. and the sides are left blank. The painting does not have to be framed and is ready to hang. Certificate of Authenticity is included.

It all started when… I discovered the cold wax medium! I am a Dutch Artist living in Plascassier, in the South of France. I have always been a creative person who loves to draw, paint and create things. After being a water colour painter for years, I switched to oils and painted mostly detailed portraits in oils. Although I loved working in oils, I felt like I was copying a reference picture rather than expressing myself. In search of other painting techniques, I stumbled on painting with cold wax medium which was completely new to me. I was fascinated by the beautiful paintings that can be made by using the cold wax techniques. Creating history in a painting in an impressionist way with colours shining through different layers is exactly what I love and what I was looking for.
