This piece was done within a particularly rough depression and anxiety episode where death was feeling like an option. Mental health is important and this piece depicts how so often I am happy and smiling when the story inside is something else. The painting also symbolises hope.

Mozambique
Chengeto is a Zimbabwean artist based in Southern Africa. She recently picked up her paintbrushes and pencils again after an 8-year hiatus. Art was something she did with her father but after he passed away from cancer she did not want to see art until January this year. She loves drawing and painting female figures, faces, patterns, and animals but admits to loving a challenge and being brought out of her comfort zone. Besides art, she writes novels and poetry books and sometimes hosts shows for a local radio station in Zimbabwe under her stage name 'The Oracle May'.
