This piece was inspired by my fascination with the curving pillowy lines in the Matisse works I had been devouring for a while before painting it. It features colors of deep reds, pinks, corals and peach offset by crisp blue and white on a patterned tablecloth and a delft pitcher with a bird design. The blossoms in the jug are rounded and puffy with soft petals in warm colors. A small but vibrant piece, this vivid little gem will stand out in any space. The board is cradled so it is ready to hang or can be framed to the eventual owners liking.

Lara Meintjes, also known as Agnes, is a South African artist, happily living in Oakland, California. She is particularly interested in arrangements of color, and the effects of each color's presence on the others within a composition. She also really likes flowers and awkward ceramic objects. Lara is fascinated by the dividing line between fact and fantasy, and the lingering imprint of childhood on our adult lives. She likes to play in the negative space between objects.
