VIEW IN MY ROOM
That feeling of wanting to be a part of something, connecting with someone and wanting to escape your current space inspired this piece. I hope the expression and gesture of the frog will entice the viewer to want to interact with this painting. Parts of this painting glows in the dark as well. I chose the medium of acrylic paint because it dries fast so I do not have to wait long before applying the next layer. I also like how I can paint over parts of the picture at any time in the process allowing me greater freedom and control of how the picture will turn out. I also like how acrylic paint allows me to mix any colour I want, allowing me more control in adjusting the light, tone and shade of the painting. I decided to use glow in the dark paint because I liked how it gave the painting another dimension, to be able to be enjoyed in the dark as well. I adjusted and the amount of glow in the dark paint using medium to thin it out in parts so that when viewed in the dark certain parts of the painting fade faster than other parts giving adding the aspect of time into the painting, when viewed in the dark, it's as if the hand of the frog slowly disappears, fist from around it's hand to it's finger tips. I also used iridescent paint in parts the painting to give it a shiny, translucent look, in the day time, like real frogs do sometimes. I chose the frog because it allows the viewer to identify with another living creature. I chose this frog in particular because of it's expression. I chose the bathroom because frogs generally enjoy a moist environment. I chose the representational, surrealist style because it allows me to express myself using symbols.
