The painting "Blue garden" was painted under the influence of Russian aggression in Ukraine and belongs to the "Stolen Spring" series. Because of the war in Ukraine, in the spring the artist had to leave her native home and the garden she adored, which was her inspiration. The picture shows memories from the beloved hawthorn tree, which blooms with pink flowers in the spring, but this year it was not possible to see. The artist created a series of semi-abstract works, where you can see floral subjects. Longing for one's garden, nature, and home is the main theme of the series. Flowers are a symbol of rebirth, hope for restoration and prosperity of Ukraine, and hope for a peaceful and flourishing life, where there are not the sounds of explosions and black smoke, but birdsong and a blooming garden outside the window

I am Katia Solodka and I am a professional full-time artist from Ukraine. Since the war started, I have moved to the Netherlands and work here. The main subject in my work is abstract flowers and beautiful gardens. Because flowers are the greatest aesthetic pleasure and my inspiration, few things can be compared with the beauty of flowers and their colors. The paintings are made in my original painting technique, which makes the style recognizable and expressive. I use a palette knife to create texture and volume, as well as expressive splatter strokes to create a sense of movement and energy. It is always more important for me to convey the impression and emotion of the subject than the subject itself. Therefore, there is a hint of flowers in my works, but the goal is to convey the smell of flowers. I take my inspiration from the emotions and impressions of the beauty of nature around me, which are poured onto the canvas with expressive colors. I think art is very important in these difficult times. People need beauty and aesthetic pleasure more than ever, so I will be happy to share my blooming paintings with the world to bring more beauty and bright colors to someone's life. It gives me the greatest pleasure to paint large canvases, where I can more dynamically convey expression, more successfully distribute the light and depth of the composition, and with the help of broad brushes and movements, I can convey the mood of the painting.
