About The Artwork
My approach is always an intuitive one. I am inspired by colours shape and texture and my memories of being in the British landscape. I start with a very loose and unconstructed underpainting using a variety of media, colour is usually the only choice I will have made at that point. The work then evolves in a sort of visual conversation between me and the work until it resolves itself into the final piece. Because of the way I work the titles for my paintings tend to come towards the end of the creative process: I called this work "Bramble Tide" because the painting evoked memories of the changing ephemeral nature of the sea. This work comes unframed in a mount. The dimensions of the work refers to the size of the mount 18"x18".
