An underwater scene full of texture and painterly qualities in acrylic medium. Coastal references with coral, shells, fish, rock and stone. It has been painted in a semi abstract and contemporary style with colours of ultramarine blue, burnt umber, subtle pink tones, gold to add shimmer, white and shades of black. The artwork has strong impact with a deep contrast creating an almost 3D effect which looks different from every angle. Inspired by my time spent at rustic British locations along the coastline. I spend many hours studying, drawing and painting. The artwork evokes an emotional response to forms and textures from the underwater sea world. I have come to realize that it’s not ‘what you paint’ that is important, but ‘how you paint it’. So in my interpretation of painting a subject, I try to maintain the essence of what first inspired me to paint it. For me, what is fundamental in my paintings are light, subtlety of color, harmony, depth and drama, while still staying true to the subject. In my finished work, I hope that I have conveyed to the viewer interest and intrigue with this ethereal work of art. It has been painted on stretched primed cotton canvas and been framed with a solid wood 'floating' frame painted in a warm mat white to complement the image. All fixtures and fittings are in place and therefore ready to hang in your home or work space. This beautiful image would suit many home interiors both modern and the more traditional so to enhance large areas of wall space to create an eye catching feature and interesting focal point.

Janet works from her studio in South Cambridgeshire, as a freelance artist, supplying semi abstract, impressionistic and fine art to publishing companies worldwide. Her paintings are sold from galleries throughout the South of England and internationally via the web. She has become a much recognized artist for her subject matter and her unique creative style of work. ʺI enjoy experimenting with all mediums but watercolor and acrylic are the ones I find most satisfying. Depending on the subject, I find that it would either lend itself more to the delicate touches of watercolor or to the stronger and more vibrant colors of acrylic paint and each would allow me to translate a ‘mood’ a subject might evoke”. In my finished work, I hope that I have conveyed to the viewer a sense of mood, which was present at the time of painting it.ʺ
