About The Artwork

Butterfly Portrait Spot Sword 297 Acrylic on Stretched 3D Canvas 23cm x 23cm x 5cm (9 inches x 9 inches x 2 inches) The idea of butterfly portraits was made from 2004 but have been using the same technique for many years before in a number of portraits going back years before. The technique was to produce interesting and abstract backgrounds where only the parts of the figure i.e. the face and hands were painted in oils or acrylic in detail. These Expressionistic butterfly eyes were added recently December 2023 which just shows you artist will add or change artwork years later. I think they look far more interesting and morphia. The eyes force the viewer to see a face or animal features which are not there. Of course, the idea of eyes is a protection mechanism. Motif for many butterfly wings-other for attractive colours to attract. The use of acrylic paints in order to use the wide variation of metallic and pearlescent colours which give the glistering prism look they have in movement. The colours are a representation of each individual names spices of butterfly. These little but fascinating and interesting works are stretched on canvas with a thick box frame which does not need framing.
