About The Artwork
LIFE INTERRUPTED SERIES 2020 has been a year unlike any other, in that the entire world shared a single event, which caused an interruption of life universally. This was the inspiration and personal therapy for my series, Life Interrupted. The pieces are like a documentary on canvas, about how a sudden abrupt event can change life as we know it. The pieces in this series outline the flood of emotions and feelings of helplessness and fragmentation, while the use of vibrant colors can still bring a smile to our heart in the face of uncertainty and difficulty, reminding us of the power, resilience and always hopeful spirit of humanity. This is what I hope to share with you. My obsessive aesthetic is always chaotic because of my autism, and it remains the same in this series which provides an anchor of normalcy, but I forced myself to leave a few layers off the pieces, a nod to how we are experiencing life right now, a few layers short of normal. The medium is a mix of vibrant colored oil paint, India ink, oil sticks and in some pieces oil paint pens.
