About The Artwork

"I call any geometrical figure,or group of points, 'chiral', and say that it has chirality if its image in a plane mirror, ideally realized, cannot be brought to coincide with itself" (Sir WillIam Thomson Lord Kelvin) When an object or figure can be defined as "chiral", it cannot be superposed on its mirror image. The word derives from the Greek "kheir", which means "hand", and hands are a perfect example of chiral object, since even if our hands are really similar, and they can be considered the mirror image of each other, if you put your left hand onto your right hand you can see that you cannot make them coincide. Oh, and the blue flaming tulip is an intruder. "Chirality and a blue flaming tulip" 70x70 cm Acrylic on canvas
