This is a study of the weight of the human body in crucifixion. The blue is a deep, infinite sky blue. The visceral physicality of the flesh and the oil is a contrast to the symbolic geometry of the expressively painted cross.

Paul Clark has been making images since he could hold a crayon. Born and raised in Atlanta, Paul exhibits a real propensity for oil paint. Images on a computer monitor really don't do justice to the lusciousness and beauty of the medium and the way it's applied. Sometimes the canvas is left raw or paint is thin allowing the beauty of the cotton to peek through. Lines and gestures are immediate and strokes can be thick and tangible. Following in a 2,000 year old tradition, Paul is inspired by Christian themes and stories yet Paul's style is distinctly post-modern and twenty-first century. This puts him in a truly unique position among his contemporaries. The value of his work continues to increase as his style is solidified before our eyes.
