About The Artwork

Sunlight in the Sonora Desert can be very bright, almost blinding to the view at August midday. So I made up this story: I was lost wandering on the hot, sun-blinding desert and found myself on top of a mesa where there was no shade, only intense blistering heat. Shading my eyes, I looked up and saw standing a few feet in front of me a red coyote, a Desert Mesa Dog. He stood there, facing me for a few minutes. Then he looked to his left and turned to run down the side of the mesa. It was such a fast encounter, I didn't have time to be frightened, just grateful for the experience. So I painted this story with an expressionist feeling for the landscape. I hope you love the idea as much as I do.

Architect, University Mathematics Instructor, World Traveler. Northeast Texas girl, I was born and raised in beautiful Marshall, TX, surrounded by deep piney woods, creeks, lakes, flowering trees and fields and friendly Texans. The paintings I am showing you was from a time I lived in Scottsdale, AZ. During that time, my work was sold in 4 galleries, where I had several one-man shows, won 1st place in Art by Architects competition and was featured in a 4-page story about my artwork in Phoenix Home and Garden. The influence of the desert on the colors was phenomenal. Surrounded by Native American artwork and the work of other desert artists was an amazingly influential experience. I now reside in Southern California. I want people to love living with these reflections of life, as much as I loved creating them.
