About The Artwork
I painted and painted, numerous colours and abstract marks, turning the canvas around and around, yet nothing stood out to me. I left the painting for a month or so until on looking again I could begin to make out a few figures. I found the composition was too busy and I had already started masking it out with the darkness to bring out some of the elements of what I could see. So I slowly and fraughtfully edited the piece until it was just this figure and the table left. I love painting in oils because of the durability and vividness of colours.
