About The Artwork

Eagle was made as part of a series of paintings about the human animal divide. It was shown at 'Humanimal' in Penzance, Cornwall during the winter of 2015. We have an ambiguous relationship with birds of prey, we admire, fear and also treat them as pests. Just as this painting is my projection of an idea of what an eagle is, so are the words prey, bird, pest, predator. We name what we see, but the reality is far stranger and un pin-downable. Painted in oil on found wood which once was part of a backing board of a Victorian painting frame. It is unframed but ready to hang with rings and cord, signed on the reverse.
