About The Artwork
This painting came about after a visit to the Royal Veterinary College in London. They have an extensive collection of skeletons in a museum there. I was taken by a deer skull, complete with fuzzy antlers. I imagined him to be quite fabulous in life. I have made him to be looking through a trophy wall mount, like a type of window, so he is not dead but very much alive, observing, yet still a trophy to behold! A young buck, no less. I hope the camp nature of this painting will bring happiness and tolerance, to allow the viewer to feel good about not killing for blood sports but rather to enjoy peacefully, our rare glimpses into nature.
