I feel a moral obligation to record the mundane, everyday objects. By isolating overlooked everyday things on a canvas, I give them importance and moral authority. I preserve their shapes, colors, and textures. Every part of the painting receives equal attention. My work aims to disrupt and transform our relation with the familiar. Although small, my minutely observed paintings describe the larger worlds of my immediate environment and psyche. Their small scale and finely rendered details draw viewers close and invite them to enter the quiet, deceptively deadpan world of the paintings.
