About The Artwork

Throughout the pandemic I spent a lot of time walking around the harbor of my hometown. I painted reflections in the water and boathouses. The work segued into abstract interpretations. The painting is part of a new series that includes Lost at Sea and Cargo. Flotsam is an acrylic artwork painted on stretched canvas. The edges are painted so there is no need to frame. It's wired on the back to hang. It is signed and ships with documentation.

My work on canvas has evolved from traditional approaches, including landscape and still life, to textured, abstract forms and conceptual work. Ever evolving, "Marina Reflections" is my latest series. Most paintings are acrylic on canvas, although several are oil. Inspired by walks around the harbor in Bellingham, camera in hand, capturing reflections in the water of pleasure boats and commercial fishers. More can be seen on my website, www.mirakamada.com. I earned a Master of Arts degree in painting/studio arts from Marshall University, and was honored with the Arthur Carpenter Award for Excellence in Art. I'm a member of Women Painters of Washington. I’ve exhibited on both U.S. coasts—from New York to California, as well as the Pacific Northwest and Canada. My work is represented in both private and public collections and has appeared in feature films. I continue to explore the many possibilities of paint, printmaking and mixed media. It’s a wonderful vocation.
