About The Artwork
Original abstract acrylic and other materials, hand-made painting on canvas, unframed. The painting signed in the back and could be also signed in the front on request. The cracks visible on the right of the painting are the part of design. People find that most of my paintings, like this one, contain various shapes, forms, faces, a lot of details, etc ‘hidden’ within. They often are not visible from the first glance. They could be seen from a different angle, different position, different lighting or even different state of mind. Those images could come and go. Also, different people see different things. I believe that this property makes these pieces interesting. They could be discovered and re-discovered for a long time. Unfortunately, in most of the cases this could be only obvious when viewed ‘live’. I do not use varnish or gloss (unless by design) in order to preserve the original feel of a piece. One could easily apply these methods if needed. The shipping package includes a certificate of authenticity and ‘Thank you’ note. Shipped in a cardboard box, rolled-up.

Andrei Autumn was born in Daugavpils, Latvia (EU), former Soviet Union, in town which has achieved its world recognition due to the fact that Mark Rothko was born there. In 1984 Andrei defected to the West and lived for over 23 years in USA. At the end of the 90s Andrei started to experiment with visual arts: painting, photography, etc. This passion was prompted by a simple intention to decorate his residence with art. What is the best way, but use your own work? You hang on your walls exactly what you like and it's cheap. Andrei is a self-taught artist and his only guide is the inner intuition. His pieces often depict complex emotions conveyed by layers and mix of colors and shapes. Even though the works are abstract, sophisticated viewers could see some images: faces, heads, other non-abstract shapes. One just needs a certain type of imagination to see them. Andrei's style and methods change from time to time, but in general terms could be described as Action, Color Field painting, Geometric Abstraction, and Emotional/Intuitional Art, etc. Andrei is also a musician: singer-songwriter, from 2008 residing in Latvia.
