About The Artwork
This painting was 36 years in the making. I camped out on this wonderful beach in 1983. In 2006, the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster occurred, wiping the beach out. This year [2019], from an old black and white photo I took on the beach, I worked this image over two seascape photos printed on canvas box frames that are bolted together. The boat is the Miss Rhonda, a shrimper that had washed ashore the previous week, perhaps a harbinger of the larger disaster to strike later.
